Affordable ecommerce website builders should be compared by the cost of running a usable store, not the smallest number on a banner. For an Indian clothing or jewellery business, check the billing commitment, local payment options, product variants and who will build and maintain the site.

This guide compares ten alternatives, then explains Wraperers as an eleventh option for clothing brands that want the store built and maintained for them. We publish this guide and sell the Wraperers service. It is a commercial comparison based on published information, not an independent ranking or a claim that we have hands-on tested every platform. The numbers below identify options; they are not quality rankings.

Information was checked on 21 October 2026. Prices and offers can change. Where an Indian price could not be verified, request a current quote from the provider. Confirm taxes, payment eligibility and the final checkout quote before buying.

How to compare affordable ecommerce website builders

First decide whether you need a catalogue for enquiries or a transactional store. A jewellery catalogue with a contact button is a different project from a store with ring sizes, inventory and online payments. A clothing shop with size-and-colour stock is different from a single-product page.

Then ask who is doing the work. A low-cost self-serve subscription may be good value if you can set up the pages and maintain them. A managed service may suit a founder who wants that work included. Neither is automatically better for every business.

Use the same comparison basket: twelve months of the required plan, setup work, essential extensions, renewal costs and applicable sales-related fees. Keep payment gateway fees separate from platform transaction fees. Shipping, domain and messaging costs may also be separate.

9. ShoopyBasic ₹2,499/year, excluding 18% GSTA rupee-priced store to assess for a small catalogueBasic lists 0% fees for the first 250 annual orders; fees apply beyond the allowance
10. BigCommerceCore US$29/month billed annually, or US$39 monthly, excluding taxesA commerce platform to assess when its capabilities justify the budgetCore has a US$30,000 trailing sales threshold and open-payment-provider fees; don't assume it is the cheapest India option

These are not eleven equivalent packages. Some are software subscriptions; Wraperers includes a service. Compare the actual work and constraints before comparing the price alone.

1. Shopify: assess the full commerce bill

Shopify's India pricing gives a clear starting reference for Basic on annual billing. Include the third-party-provider fee shown for that plan, plus your actual gateway charges and any extensions you decide you need. Don't treat an introductory trial offer as the ongoing cost.

Ask whether you will build the store yourself or pay someone to set it up. The software price and a professional build quote answer different questions.

2. WooCommerce: separate free software from a running store

WooCommerce is free open-source ecommerce software for WordPress. It can be worth considering when you want control and have the skills or support to operate it. A working store still needs hosting, configuration and maintenance; optional extensions may add cost.

Request a breakdown of the launch work and ongoing responsibilities. “Free platform” doesn't mean every part of the project is free.

3. Wix: confirm the selling plan and local payment setup

The Wix plan page separates its general website and ecommerce capabilities. Choose a plan that accepts payments rather than comparing the cheapest brochure-site price with a full online store. Check the India price for the plan you need rather than applying a rate shown for another country.

Razorpay publishes a Wix integration. Confirm your merchant eligibility and required payment methods before choosing a plan.

4. Hostinger: inspect upfront and renewal terms

Hostinger's India builder page showed an ecommerce-enabled promotional plan with a 48-month upfront commitment. That may be attractive to someone comfortable doing the setup, but it isn't directly comparable with a cancel-anytime monthly service.

Its payment documentation lists Razorpay for India. Test your required variants and fulfilment process rather than assuming the low price proves suitability.

5. Dukaan: request the current package

Check Dukaan's current pricing directly rather than relying on old comparison tables. Ask for the plan, transaction charges, domain conditions and required features in writing.

Use your actual product list in a demonstration. A platform that looks simple in a general demo still needs to handle the options and operations you use.

6. Instamojo: include the transaction component

Instamojo publishes a free Lite plan and paid store tiers. Starter lists custom-domain linking, while its pricing includes a transactional component. Read the complete plan terms and GST note; a small annual subscription can still produce a different total once orders begin.

Compare the plan using a realistic sales scenario for your business, without assuming today's low order volume will remain unchanged.

7. Zoho Commerce: check the required tier

Zoho Commerce publishes tier-specific catalogue and feature limits. The Standard listing checked for this guide included 500 products and 0% platform transaction fees, but that doesn't eliminate a payment provider's own processing charge.

Request the current INR quote and confirm any other Zoho products or integrations your proposed workflow needs. Don't assume every connected business tool is included in one subscription.

8. Ecwid: match the plan to your catalogue

Ecwid can add a store to an existing site and offers its own storefront tools. Its tiers have different product limits and capabilities, so check the actual tier required for clothing size-and-colour inventory rather than only the entry price.

Its India payment guide lists provider options and notes that apps can have additional fees. Confirm the full payment and shipping setup for your account.

9. Shoopy: understand allowances and setup work

Shoopy's Basic plan lists a yearly subscription and an order allowance before additional platform fees. Its pricing page also distinguishes included setup on Business from a setup add-on on other plans.

That distinction matters when comparing with a managed build. Ask which tasks are included in your chosen package, and inspect the renewal price and charges beyond the order allowance.

10. BigCommerce: compare only if the scope fits

BigCommerce is included as a broader commerce alternative, not a promise of a budget fit. Its current pricing lists sales thresholds and distinguishes embedded payment providers from providers that attract an extra platform fee.

For an Indian store, verify gateway eligibility, the applicable fee category and currency costs. A larger feature set is useful only when your business needs it.

11. Wraperers: a managed option for clothing brands

This is our service. Wraperers is a small studio in India building online stores for clothing and fashion brands. You speak directly with the person building the store. It is a different proposition from buying a self-serve website builder and doing all the work yourself.

Our plans are ₹1,500 month to month, ₹7,500 for six months or ₹15,000 for twelve months. The longer plans work out to ₹1,250 a month. There is no setup fee or Wraperers transaction fee. Domain costs, payment gateway fees and WhatsApp message usage are separate; custom design and large migrations are quoted upfront. See the current plans.

We build a phone-first store on a template made to suit your brand, with products, sizes, colours, a bag and checkout. The owner can manage products, prices and stock. Hosting, SSL, backups, maintenance and updates are included. Payments use Razorpay alongside COD, and shipping through Shiprocket can be booked from the orders screen.

Why we think it can be good value: a small clothing-brand owner gets the store built and maintained within a defined subscription, rather than comparing only a software licence and arranging the remaining work separately. A free homepage preview using your products lets you assess the direction before committing.

Where another option may fit better: the store runs on the Wraperers platform and cannot be moved off it. We can export products, customers and orders if you leave. If owning a portable site is essential, evaluate alternatives that meet that requirement. Size finder, reviews, drops and pre-orders, analytics, traffic tracking links, WhatsApp order updates and self-serve returns are coming soon, not current promises.

Clothing and jewellery need different checks

For apparel, test sizes, colours, stock and fit information on a real product. For jewellery, establish the actual requirements: product dimensions, ring sizes where relevant, materials, personalisation and whether the store needs fixed prices or a more specialist pricing process. Don't assume any platform supports a jewellery-specific function merely because it can display a product photo.

Wraperers focuses on clothing and fashion brands. If your project needs jewellery-specific functions, confirm the scope directly before choosing a provider.

Choose value for your situation

Shortlist a few options and ask each to demonstrate your real product and order flow. Compare twelve-month cash outlay, setup responsibilities, payment charges and exit options. A cheap builder you can confidently operate may be the right choice. A managed service can be worth considering when the included work addresses your actual needs.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest website builder for a clothing brand in India?
It depends on the required selling features, billing commitment and your own setup work. Compare the complete store cost, including fees and renewal terms, rather than assuming the smallest advertised monthly equivalent is the cheapest usable option.
Is a managed clothing website better value than Shopify?
It can be for a founder who needs the included build and maintenance, but that isn't universal. Compare the full package, required features, control and portability; Shopify or another platform may suit a different business better.
Can I use a general ecommerce builder for jewellery?
Potentially, if it supports your actual catalogue, options, payment and fulfilment requirements. Specialist needs such as dynamic metal pricing or complex customisation should be demonstrated and quoted explicitly rather than assumed.
